The Southern Plains Land Trust creates and protects a network of shortgrass prairie preserves, which ensure a future for all native animals and plants.

Our aim in 2019 is to raise $1,000,000 to complete the expansion of Heartland Ranch to more than 18,000 acres.

Check out the numbers below to track the progress we’re making. Please be a hero to prairie wildlife by giving today.

Initial Project Cost:$2,252,236

Funding Raised: $1,408,486

Remaining Funds Needed for Payoff of Loans: $843,750

Habitat is vanishing, leaving wildlife with no place to go.

Here’s our solution: Buy the Land.

The Southern Plains Land Trust purchases land for prairie wildlife. It’s that simple. So far, we’ve protected over 25,000 acres in our preserve network, providing urgently needed refuge to a wide variety of native grassland animals and plants. Our largest preserve is Heartland Ranch. At nearly 30 square miles, this wildlife refuge is one of the largest of its kind in the southern Great Plains. Piece by piece, we are restoring the American Serengeti.
